Things That I Don’t Hate: The Art Of Kelly McKernan.

I wanted to write about something wonderful today so I decided to get real artsy with it. *tightens scarf, straightens beret* I am lucky enough to know a girl called Kelly who is really good at making really pretty pictures. I honestly can’t think of anything she’s created that I’ve seen and not been impressed by. What she makes with her brain and hands is apparently exactly what my brain and eyes enjoy the most, so we’re really a pretty solid team in that respect. High fives!

You can check out her genius over at www.KellyMcKernan.com and if you’re lucky enough to live near Atlanta I think you might even be able to see some of it in person. I have some original pieces by her hanging in my house and I can report that not only does it make everything look prettier but it also keeps out ghosts, ghouls and poltergeists. I can’t report one single spectral sighting since having her work on my walls. I can’t report one before that either but I think that’s just because those supernatural assholes knew what was coming and decided to stay clear. Smart move, losers.

I’m going to put up a few more examples of her work on here to prove to you guys that I have awesome taste. It was a painful process narrowing down my selection so that wouldn’t all be scrolling for half an hour or so. Again, I would recommend you just go to her website and fall in love with her work over there, but as you’re here and lazy I have included a few more examples of why the art of Kelly McKernan should become your most favourite of all arts!

This last picture is one that I commissioned and own. Isn’t it so pretty?! *strokes screen*

  1. Her work is beautiful and inspiring. I follow her on facebook and even received a postcard in the mail once. :) Too bad I’m not near Atlanta, I’d love to see her work in person. Oh well, yay for the internet!

  2. Wow! Awesome, I’ll use these to get some inspiration. I love the way she uses multi-media and puts different styles together so effortlessly, and also the expressions of the characters. They look so real…so in the moment, I guess. And don’t get me started on the stained effect and the patterns/textures in the background. This is love, man! LOVE!

  3. Your friend’s extreme talent + your good taste helped my sucky day suck less. Thanks much to both of you’s. I, too wish I were close enough to Atlanta to see it in person!
